Very few things are as amazing to watch as sailfish bait balling. The video footage presented on this post will astound you. As you watch the sailfish swirling and schooling the frantic baitfish sardines, and then feeding is incredible. It is nature at its finest, poetry in motion.
Take a moment and watch the incredible video presented at the top of this post. You will watch in amazement as numerous sailfish school and feed on sardines.
You will not be able to believe your eyes! This was filmed off the coast of Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
Sailfish Bait Balling Video Footage
In the first video above, I think I counted 20+ sailfish at one time in the screen. The live sardines did not stand a chance, and it was just a matter of time before they were all dispatched in a timely fashion.
Swimming with Sailfish Balling Bait
Ok. This guy is just nuts! He jumped in the water while the action was going on. I don’t know about you, but I would be scared stiff that a sailfish would get just a little bit too close with its razor sharp bill.
The water is not as clear in this video, but you can still clearly appreciate the magnitude of what is going on under the surface of the water.
HD Footage of Sailfish Attacking a Bait Ball, Isla Mujeres, Mexico
I still insist that watching sailfish bait balling is truly amazing act of nature that not many people get to witness in person. I will stay on the boat and watch the video footage. Expand your screen to full screen to fully appreciate the film.
And it ends with the beautiful shimmer of sardine scales floating underwater.
I just admire how the billfish herd and attach the schools sardines and baitfish.
That and the clear blue waters make for a gorgeous underwater scene.
